TripTRACS™ Enables More Efficient Approach to EU Working Time Directive

- New Qualcomm Software Application Provides Clear Insight into EU Provisions -

AMSTERDAM - October 13, 2005 - Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM) the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, today announced it has added functionality for its TripTRACS Driver Costs and Trip Analysis System that will ensure compliance with the EU Working Time Directive, which places clear restrictions on the number of hours that a truck driver is permitted to work in Europe. TripTRACS is a software application dedicated to processing driver hours and payroll that provides road haulage companies in Europe with greater insight into their drivers' working hours and shifts. It also enables creation of operations schedules that take into account the amount of time available during upcoming weeks.

The latest TripTRACS application supports compliance with the maximum average working hours and shifts during a given period prescribed by the European Union . Furthermore, TripTRACS takes into account standard collective labor agreements (CLA) provisions with regard to drivers' hours, such as those stated in the collective labor agreements of the Royal Netherlands Transport Association (KNV), the National Association of Transport Operators (TLN) and the sectoral agreements applicable in Belgium. The system also provides timely data with which to align individual drivers' schedules with the number of working hours that the driver in question has available within a given period of time.

TripTRACS is a software package used to process data on drivers' activities, calculate salaries based on this data, and analyze all trip data with regard to the deployment of drivers and vehicles. The software processes the drivers' hours registered by the on-board computer, which it uses as the basis for the automatic calculation of wage and expenses information. The CLA provisions applicable to any particular driver can be used as the basis for payments, while various overtime rates can also be applied. TripTRACS therefore offers an overview in near real time of current drivers' hours and costs per day, week or month.

TripTRACS is an application that operates within Qualcomm's EutelTRACS® fleet management system, and is compatible with HourTRACS® Web, the near real-time driver management system. The information provided by HourTRACS comprises all relevant trip data, such as hours, fuel, mileages and waiting times. TripTRACS also provides several overviews specifically designed for fuel-cost control. These use the consumption data according to the FMS-CAN Bus, the number of litres entered, and/or data provided by fuel suppliers.
