Qualcomm Announces Availability of New Web-Based Solution for the Transportation Industry

- QTRACS Web Offers Trucking Companies Greater Flexibility and Streamlined Operations -

WAALRE — May 24, 2004 — Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe bv, a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, today announced the availability of QTRACS® Web, a new Web-based interface to the EutelTRACS™ mobile communications system. QTRACS Web helps trucking companies manage two-way data communication with their fleet. This secure, easy-to-use, Web-based product allows companies to access their fleet data through a Web browser and view current and historical vehicle locations, and display them on a scalable map.

"QTRACS Web provides trucking companies of all sizes with flexibility, as it lets dispatchers and managers access near real-time fleet information within a traditional dispatch operation or outside the office, such as from home," said Michael Geffroy, managing director of Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe. "Qualcomm’s Web-based service also helps trucking companies with multiple facilities to streamline their operations and improve their productivity, since all terminals, regardless of their location, have access to the same information."

QTRACS Web-based services provides cost-effective, multiple-user access via a standard Web browser and offers simplified setup and operation, a rich set of fleet management features, Pan-European digital mapping and advanced messaging management. No installation is required for remote sites, and users can access the service quickly at any time. QTRACS Web is Qualcomm-hosted for customers who prefer to access fleet data via the Internet. Qualcomm hosts and maintains all servers, software and customer data.

The QTRACS Web-based solution will interface with Qualcomm’s EutelTRACS system, a satellite-based mobile communications and tracking system that provides real-time messaging and position reporting between fleets and their operations centres. Messages are sent via satellite through Eutelsat’s Network Management Centre to dispatch centres throughout Europe. The EutelTRACS system is an interactive, fully integrated information management system that includes two-way mobile communications, satellite tracking and fleet management software. To date, Qualcomm has shipped more than 511,000 mobile communications system units worldwide.
